Seventeen coached walking sessions — the full Japanese Walking Method, drop-in ready. Press play, leave the house, walk. No app, no subscription, no daily nudges. The method ticks itself off in your headphones.
The Method, In Your Ears
Each session opens with a sixty-second briefing — what this walk is doing, why, and how it should feel. Then a gentle warm-up, the brisk-easy interval blocks with cue-by-cue coaching, and a brief cool-down. Walking-pace music underneath.
Every walk from the four-week book, plus a senior modification, indoor and recovery sessions.
Four distinct music beds at walking pace. No drops, no jarring transitions, no podcast filler.
Audible chimes mark every pace change. Voiced cues for warm-up, intervals, and cool-down.
Voice and music engineered for outdoor listening — clear over wind, traffic, and headphone wind-buffeting. Tested on UK pavements before release.
The Proof
Two hundred and forty-six adults. Five months. Interval walking against steady-pace walking, head-to-head. Published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings, the medical journal of the Mayo Clinic.
Resting systolic, after five months of interval walking. A clinically meaningful change at any age, larger for older adults.
Interval walking outpaces steady-pace walking on weight lost when total training time is equal — a British Journal of Sports Medicine meta-analysis put the gap at roughly forty per cent across comparable studies.
A seventeen per cent rise in VO₂ max in the interval-walking group — the body's peak oxygen uptake, and the single strongest predictor of all-cause longevity in mainstream cardiology. A JAMA meta-analysis of over 100,000 adults found every one-MET gain in aerobic fitness — roughly the gap between a sedentary adult and a brisk walker — lowers all-cause mortality by thirteen per cent.
Quadriceps strength — measured with isometric dynamometry — climbed 13% in the interval-walking group versus the steady-walking control.
Hamstring strength — knee flexion, measured by isometric dynamometry — rose seventeen per cent in the interval-walking group. The largest single strength gain the trial reported.
Peak aerobic capacity for walking — the trial's own walking-specific measure — rose nine per cent in the interval group. The number that translates most directly into feeling less out of breath on the daily walk.
What's Inside
All-in-one ZIP. Drop the MP3s into your music app of choice — Apple Music, Spotify offline, anything that plays files. Print the tracker for the fridge. Done.
Pick Your Edition
The audio stands on its own — many buyers never open the book. But the pair-bundle gives you the editorial and the in-ear coach for less than each separately.
Questions
You download the ZIP once and the MP3s play offline anywhere — your music app, a cheap mp3 player, anything that plays files. Offline-by-design for walks without signal.
No. Each session is self-contained. Many buyers use the audio alone. But the book gives the why behind every cue.
Four royalty-free music beds at walking pace, no lyrics, no jarring drops. Engineered to sit under the coaching, not compete with it.
Most are around 30 minutes — the full walk. A short quick-start audio is ~5 minutes. Total runtime is about 6.5 hours.
Digital sales are final by default. If the file doesn't play for you, email hello@pacereset.com and we'll sort it.
